Associate Athletic Counselor
Cy Austin, ACMHC is a psychotherapist and mental performance coach who helps clients strengthen their mental game and overall well-being on and off the field. With a background in both clinical mental health and performance psychology, Cy supports individuals and teams in building confidence, emotional agility, and practical tools for real-world results.
Cy’s work is rooted in a belief that mental performance and mental health go hand in hand. He is especially passionate about creating spaces where men and athletes can explore vulnerability without stigma and is committed to breaking down barriers that often prevent high performers from seeking support.
Cy earned a Master of Science in Sport and Human Performance and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University in Chicago IL. He is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
Through his work in community mental health, higher education, and private practice, Cy has supported a wide range of clients including first-generation college students, pilots, musicians, public speakers, and elite athletes. His approach blends trauma-informed therapy with performance strategies, integrating CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and tools from Vealey’s Mental Skills Model.
When he is not in session, you will likely find Cy on the golf course, exploring new restaurants, or catching a Cubs game.
